Trade-only operator Typically Holidays has launched a travel companion service in response from agents and clients for support for holidaymakers.
The tailormade specialist, which features European cities, said the offering is a “discreet, professional and reassuring service designed for solo travellers, older guests, or anyone who would appreciate a little extra support while away”.
An experienced husband-and-wife companion team will accompany the client throughout their journey, “providing friendly assistance and peace of mind from the moment you leave home until you return”.
Simon Garrido, business development director, said the couple offering the service are members of the Broccoli family which runs the business.

“We would only trust an initiative like this with trusted family members,” he said.
“They have lived in Italy for over nine years and have more recently ran many of our overseas group tours, escorting the groups on their tours.”
He added: “Feedback from customers via agents suggest that with a certain customer profile there is a desire to have friendly companion to assist with the travel arrangements which often worry some of our older customers.
“They don’t particularly want to go on a guided tour so this service would fit in very well for them.”
He said the cost of this service would vary depending on the itinerary but noted: “We are looking to make this as minimal as possible.”
The travel companions can meet clients at most departures and accompany them through the airport, offering support with check-in, security and boarding.
They can help with luggage, boarding trains, navigating stations and dealing with hotels and excursions.
“Our mature and experienced husband-and-wife team are passionate about helping people travel with confidence,” said the operator.
“They blend naturally into your holiday experience, offering support that feels like travelling with trusted friends or family rather than being supervised.”
Daniele Broccoli, managing director, said: “We believe this is a great initiative that fills a gap in the market.
“It also underlines our ethos of offering the best customer service through our travel agent partners and to our mutual clients.”
