The projects are; Rheged Upland Discovery Centre in Cumbria, the Wetland’s Centre in Barnes, London, the Scottish Seabird Centre in East Lothian and Suffolk-based tour operator Tribes Travel, which works closely with local communities in the holiday destinations it operates.
The four projects will be judged on how they benefit and involve local communities and how they protect the cultural, built and natural environment. The impact of visitors must be monitored as well as energy, water sources and the effects of waste.
Along with another 24 international projects they will go forward in the next round of judging from which the overall Global Winner will be chosen.
The winners will be announced on October 2
