US Airways to open call centre

US AIRWAYS is to create up to 150 jobs with the opening of a new European call centre in Liverpool this September.

 

The $5m facility will initially employ 90 people in the city's Tithe Barn Street, but will grow over the next five years.

 

The carrier said 40,000 calls will be handled each month for transatlantic bookings from Gatwick, Manchester, Paris, Frankfurt, Munich, Madrid and Rome.

 

US Airways has attracted a £780,000 grant from the Government and £195,000 from Liverpool City Council to set up the 15,000sq ft centre.

 

The airline's investment in the northwest comes as it prepares to launch daily Manchester to Philadelphia flights on Friday.
