Visit Qatar chief outlines plan for ‘co-ordinated bounce-back’ once conflict over

Visit Qatar’s chief executive hopes to welcome back international travellers “very soon” once the Iran war ends.

Abdulaziz Ali Al-Mawławi made the pledge while conceded that the region had faced “unprecedented challenges” since the outbreak of the conflict two months ago.

In a message thanking the trade for standing by the Gulf nation, he said: “I want to assure you: we are not simply recovering - we are executing a deliberate, co-ordinated bounce-back plan grounded in the proven strength of our destination and the full readiness of our infrastructure.”

The message came as Qatar Airways continued to reinstate its global network from Doha with the return of daily services to Dubai and Sharjah last week and to Damascus and Bahrain from May 1.

The airline is “advancing the phased restoration of its global network, enhancing passenger access to key markets across six continents”.

Al-Mawlawi said: “Because we work as one integrated tourism ecosystem, when the crisis struck and thousands of visitors found themselves stranded and uncertain, our collective response was immediate and clear: we would care for them completely, with no questions asked.

“Emergency visas secured within hours. Extended stays fully accommodated - accommodation, meals, care, reassurance - despite operational complexity. Thousands of travellers guided through uncertainty by our dedicated 24/7 call centre, working around the clock to provide answers and support at every step.

“Throughout this period, we transcended mere operational efficiency to demonstrate the very best of Qatari hospitality rooted in what tourism fundamentally is: human connection, trust, and genuine care.”

Describing tourism investment as a long-term commitment, he added: “Those who build hotels, develop experiences and deploy capital in Qatar do so with confidence that our business environments are stable, our operational excellence is unwavering and our commitment to exceptional service is non-negotiable.

“What we have just proven under real pressure, in real time is precisely that commitment.”

Al-Mawlawi concluded: “Your continued investment, your support and your commitment to excellence directly helps shape Qatar’s future as a global tourism destination.

“We don’t succeed in isolation we succeed together. We look forward to welcoming international tourists back to Qatar very soon, when this crisis has fully passed - so they can experience the full warmth of our hospitality once again.”
