Wizz Air flights to operate as normal after Airbus update 'successfully implemented'

Wizz Air has confirmed that the software update required by Airbus has been “successfully implemented overnight” on all of its affected Airbus A320 aircraft.

This means all flights scheduled by Wizz today (Saturday, November 29) are expected to operate as normal with the carrier anticipating no further disruption as a result of the issue.  

Wizz made the statement this morning after the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) issued an instruction on Friday evening requiring airlines take “precautionary action” ahead of a planned grounding of some aircraft on Sunday.

Airbus reported the move followed “analysis of a recent event involving an A320 family aircraft” which revealed “intense solar radiation may corrupt data critical to the functioning of flight controls”.

It is understood the recent incident involved an A320 of US carrier JetBlue which was forced to make an emergency landing in Florida after a sudden drop in altitude.
