Wizz Air hits monthly milestone of 1,200 flights in June

Wizz Air flew 1,200 daily flights for the first time in a month while maintaining strong completion and on-time performances.

The milestone was confirmed as the budget carrier saw passenger numbers rise by more than 27% in June over the same month last year.

Meanwhile, low fares rival Ryanair reported a 7% rise in June passenger numbers to a record 21.2 million with a 95% load factor.  

Hungarian airline Wizz Air carried 7.48 million passengers last month as capacity grew by 27.5% to 8.14 million seats.

The load factor was down 0.2 percentage points to 91.9%.

The June performance gave Wizz Air a rolling annual total of 6.2 million passengers, up 6.3% year on year.

The month saw the airline confirm the introduction of Starlink in-flight internet technology from January 2027.

Ryanair operated more than 116,800 flights in June, with traffic exceeding the airline’s previous record month of August 2025 when it carried 21 million passengers.

The June figure saw Ryanair’s rolling annual passenger total rise by 5% to 211.8 million.
