G Adventures’ commitment to community tourism takes centre stage at GX Summit in Cambodia
G Adventures’ commitment to making travel a force for good is something that’s hardwired into its DNA. So much so it has a dedicated community tourism and sustainability programme, G for Good, where specific community tourism partners are integrated in most itineraries (known as G for Good Moments) so your clients can witness first-hand the good work G Adventures is supporting. Here are three other ways G Adventures champions travel as a force for good:
G Adventures’ commitment to sustainability spans both people and planet. For each day of a client’s trip, the operator will grow a tree on their behalf in one of 23 reforestation projects worldwide, helping to regenerate natural landscapes and supporting local communities by creating jobs and income – with six million trees planted so far.
To showcase how much G Adventures’ trips benefit local economies, the operator created the Ripple Score. On a scale of 0 to 100, the Ripple Score shows what percentage of a traveller’s money stays in the local communities they visit with G Adventures. The higher the number, the bigger the impact the client’s money has. The average Ripple Score for a G Adventures trip is 92, meaning 92% of the money travellers spend in the destinations they visit goes to local businesses and services.
G Adventures’ non-profit partner, Planeterra, has been empowering local communities for more than 20 years. It works alongside communities and local organisations to strengthen tourism as a tool for livelihoods, environmental stewardship and cultural preservation. G Adventures has integrated more than 150 community tourism enterprises around the world into its trip itineraries.
G Adventures’ annual GX Summit is the ultimate celebration of community tourism. This year’s event is taking place in Cambodia from September 23-28 and will feature six days of immersive experiences that blend premium travel with real purpose. Agents will skip the usual tourist path for time with local legends, such as Cambodia’s female tuk-tuk drivers, to see how their clients’ travel spending can drive real economic growth. They’ll also spend time with several Planeterra-supported community tourism enterprises, including:
