Online Travel Training (OTT) is making a real difference to travel agents nationwide. This month, we caught up with travel consultant Jade Maitland from Fred Olsen Travel to find out how OTT’s flexible, free training has changed the way she works.

How helpful has the OTT platform been?

It’s really helped me build my knowledge in a way that feels manageable. With such a wide range of training modules, I can focus on what’s relevant to my role. I feel more confident speaking to customers and making recommendations.

How has training impacted your day-to-day role?

When helping customers choose the right holiday, I can now provide personalised recommendations and add those extra details that make the experience feel more tailored. The wide range of modules has also helped me quickly identify what might suit each type of customer and how best to communicate with them.

How important is it that you can learn anytime, anywhere?

It’s really useful, especially in a busy travel role. Being able to dip in and out of training when it suits me makes it much easier to stay consistent. It feels flexible and doesn’t require you to set aside a lot of time.

What do you enjoy most?

I really like the flexibility and being able to choose modules relevant to what I’m selling. The content is easy to follow and engaging, so it doesn’t feel like traditional training. It’s also very practical – you can use the knowledge straight away.

What is your one top tip?

Make the most of being able to choose what’s relevant to you – don’t feel like you must do everything at once. Doing a little bit regularly helps it stick, and applying what you have learnt in real-life conversations helps it click.
