Abta has announced Olympic hurdler Sally Gunnell will feature in the closing session of next month’s Travel Convention in Majorca (October 6-8).
Jo Rzymowska, founder of Jovolution, will host a fireside chat with the 400m hurdler, who remains the only woman ever to hold four major track titles concurrently – Olympic, World, European and Commonwealth.
The travel association said the pair will explore how “in life, as in travel, the journey can be as rewarding as the destination”.
Since retiring from international athletics, Gunnell developed new career paths as a television presenter, keynote speaker and wellbeing advocate.
Rzymowska runs business consultancy Jovolution and is a non-executive director of Hays Travel.
She is a champion of diversity, equity and inclusion, and previously held several senior industry roles including during 18 years with Royal Caribbean Group, most recently as vice-president and managing director of Celebrity Cruises EMEA.
The convention will also host a wellbeing session, led by Stephen Daltrey, founder of Stephen Daltrey Elite Coaching, counsellor, Gestalt psychotherapist and certified Mental Health First Aid Instructor.
“With blurred boundaries between work and home, many professionals feel unprepared to manage rising wellbeing expectations,” said Abta in a statement.
“This breakout meeting offers practical guidance, confidence-building and expert advice.”
One-to-one advice sessions will also be available on request during the Convention.
The 2025 Travel Convention will take place at the four-star Melia Calvia Beach Resort, with content focused on four pillars: Our world; Our industry; Your business; and Your network.
The event will be held in partnership with easyJet holidays, with support from headline partners Global and Intrepid Travel. Travel Weekly will again be the trade media partner.
