EasyJet is expanding its network from Southend airport next summer with a new route to Ibiza.
Holiday packages will be offered by the budget airline’s in-house tour operation based on two flights a week on Wednesdays and Saturdays from April 29.
EasyJet is is now operating 24 routes from the Essex airport to leisure destinations across Europe and North Africa.
The carrier opened a base at Southend in March with three Airbus A320neo aircraft.
UK country manager Kevin Doyle said: “In our 30th year, we’re still as committed as ever to making travel easy and affordable for our customers in the UK.
“With this latest route and packages to Ibiza now available to book from London Southend airport for next summer, we’re continuing to provide our customers across the region with even more choice and access to Europe’s most loved destinations at fantastic fares.”
Southend airport business development director Nigel Mayes added “We’re absolutely thrilled to be announcing the return of flights to Ibiza with our partners at easyJet.
“This latest addition is another brilliant step forward for London Southend as our network continues to grow, giving passengers even more choice when it comes to flying from our easy, speedy, friendly airport.
“Ibiza is a firm favourite within our 8.2 million catchment - it caters to party-goers, culture enthusiasts and relaxation seekers alike - so to be able to share this news now really does feel like an early Christmas present.
“We’re delighted to be ending the year on such a high and can’t wait to welcome passengers on board next summer."
