Eurowings has started serving Gatwick with new routes to two German cities.
The Lufthansa Group carrier added six flights a week to Stuttgart on Tuesday, having introduced 13 departures a week to Cologne at the start of the summer schedule on March 29.
Both routes are operating from the airport’s North Terminal and provide onward connectivity across Eurowings’ European network.
Eurowings joins recent arrivals at Gatwick, including Jet2, Air France, Condor and Animawings, with AirAsia X, Air Arabia, Beijing Capital and Pegasus all set to begin flying from the airport in the coming weeks.
Aviation development director Jonny Macneal said: “Cologne and Stuttgart are important destinations for business, leisure and for people visiting friends and family, and these new services enhance our strong European short-haul offering
“We’re delighted to be supporting Eurowings’ growth this summer and look forward to a successful partnership.”
The airline’s head of network relations Reinald Frankewitz added: “We are excited to launch our first services from London Gatwick and connect the airport with two of Germany’s strongest cultural and economic regions.
“These new routes to Cologne and Stuttgart offer passengers even greater choice and convenience, whether travelling for business or leisure, while further strengthening connectivity between the UK and Germany.”
