Wood, who is an ambassador for Tusk Trust and Unicef, is also the author of 12 books, including the Sunday Times bestseller Walking the Nile. His second book, Walking the Himalayas, was voted Adventure Travel Book of the Year in 2016.
His most recent release, The Great Tree Story: How Forests Have Shaped Our World, published in April this year, is an exploration of the influence trees have had on human civilisation, from ancient myths to modern conservation efforts.
Sponsored by Quark Expeditions, Wood will share tales of his expeditions and more at this year’s flagship Atas event, which will take place at the ICC Wales in Newport on September 16-17.
Atas director Claire Brighton said: “We are very excited to be welcoming Levison Wood to the Atas Conference in 2025. It’s set to be a fascinating and inspirational talk.”
The conference format has been changed from previous years, with sessions taking place on the main stage on the afternoon of September 16 and morning of September 17.
Brighton said this will allow time for “even more inspiring speakers and informative panels” as well as more time for networking.
“Our entire conference programme has been elevated this year to give delegates an even deeper look at the sector and with our theme of ‘Expect the Unexpected’ we hope it will be full of inspiration for everyone,” added Brighton.
The event will welcome the return of the trade fair and play host to the Atas Recognition Awards.
There are limited places remaining at this year’s conference. For more information and to register, visit the Atas website.
