Marriott plans Europe growth

MARRIOTT International is targeting Europe for an expansion of its mid-range Courtyard by Marriott brand.


It wants to have more than 90 properties outside the US by the end of 2004.


According to Courtyard brand vice-president Mike Hutter, Europe offers significant potential for the group.


“The European economy is good. Business conditions continue to be promising and Marriott International is established in many of the major European cities,” said Hutter.


With the opening of a hotel in Hanover earlier this year, Courtyard became the first brand within the Marriott group to total 500 properties.
