ALATE-booking system using satellite technology is being trialled by two of the country’s largest tour operators.
Technology company Satvision has introduced its Lates-Sat product onto the market which allows operators to beam inventory details out to agents.
The company will not reveal which of the industry’s main players it is talking to but said they are in the UK’s top four – Thomson, Airtours, First Choice and Thomas Cook.
Lates-Sat will use a satellite dish at travel agencies to allow them to receive operator inventory from Satvision. The data is then displayed either on normal TV screens or on state-of-the-art screens in agency windows.
The inventory can be updated as often as the tour operator wishes.
