Luton gains Moldova air link

London Luton airport is to gain a low cost air link to the Moldovan capital of Chisinau this winter.

Wizz Air is to run three flights a week on the route from October 27 with one-way fares starting at £49.99.

The European budget carrier already operates flights from Chisinau to Rome Ciampino, Venice Treviso and Milan Bergamo airports.

A spokesman for the airline said: “We’re excited to see passenger demand to and from Chisinau continue to grow as Wizz Air’s low fares become more and more popular.

“We see a mixture of people taking advantage of our services between Moldova and Italy including tourists and business travellers, and it’s great for us to be a part of the rise of Moldova as a tourist destination.

“London has great potential as an origination city for business and leisure travellers flying to Moldova and as a destination. We see these new routes as a signal of strength for Chisinau.”
