MANX Airlines is to double the number of flights on its Liverpool-Isle of Man service after Emerald Airways decided to drop the route.
Emerald’s double-daily flights end on March 28 to leave just Manx offering services.
The Isle of Man carrier will add four more daily flights to its current four daily flights in summer.
Manx commercial director Mike Bathgate said any passengers booked on Emerald after March 28 would have their tickets honoured by his airline with no extra charge.
Bathgate added the increase from Liverpool was part of a strategy to position the airport as its northwest England gateway.
“Just as we recently stepped up our services from Luton to the Isle of Man, positioning this airport as our low-cost gateway to the south, we pledge to do the same with Liverpool for the northwest,” he said.
Manx’s investment in a Liverpool base follows the airport becoming EasyJet’s second hub.
Meanwhile, Manx has launched a special ú82.40 return fare on its Isle of Man-Glasgow service. The Farecracker deal is available until April 16 for travel between April 12 and May 21.
