Airlines using Amsterdam Schiphol airport have been warned to expect flight cancellations and delays due to bad weather today (Wednesday).
KLM is reported to have grounded more than 200 flights as its Dutch hub warned of “a combination of strong wind, rain and poor visibility”.
Cancelled flights include KLM services from UK regional airports including Birmingham, Bristol, Edinburgh, Inverness, Manchester, Norwich, Teesside, together with Heathrow and London City.
British Airways morning departures from Heathrow, Gatwick and London City to Amsterdam were cancelled and EasyJet flights from airports including Belfast, Gatwick, Glasgow, Luton and Manchester were among those affected.
But it remains unclear how many flights using the Dutch airport will be impacted in total throughout the day.
Schiphol said in a notice on its website: “The most recent weather forecast means that very limited air traffic will be possible between 09:00 and 15:00.
“This means there will be cancellations and delays, for both arriving and departing flights.
“Schiphol finds it extremely unfortunate that this may have impact on your trip.”
