A warning that terrorists are “very likely” to carry out attacks in the United Arab Emirates has been issued by the Foreign Office.
The new travel advisory for the Gulf region, which incudes Dubai, pointed to a security alert released by the US Mission to the UAE on Friday.
This said it was “aware of information indicating threats toward the Jewish and Israeli communities in the UAE”.
The Mission urged US citizens to avoid locations in the UAE associated with the Jewish and Israeli communities, including places of worship.
The US advisory was said to “reflect current security conditions”.
The latest Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) travel advice said on Friday: “Terrorists are very likely to try to carry out attacks in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).”
The advisory did not elaborate further other than highlighting the US advice.
It referred to regional risks after the June 24 ceasefire between Israel and Iran which had led to hostilities in the region.
British travellers to the UAE were advised to stay up to date with events in the region, check for transport disruption that may still be occurring, monitor local and international media and follow the instructions of local authorities.
