Heidi Alexander has been named as new transport secretary following the resignation of Louise Haigh.
The Swindon South MP is a previous shadow health secretary.
She stepped down from parliament in 2018 when she was made London’s deputy mayor for transport and helped bring the Elizabeth Line into service.
Alexander was elected to the Swindon South seat in the July general election.
She moves to head the Department for Transport from being a minister of state in the Ministry of Justice.
