Homeworking agency InteleTravel has hailed “strong” attendance at the launch of its Inclusive Travel For All (ITFA) programme.
More than 200 agents took part in the day-long launch of the scheme, which aims to help them convert enquiries into sales for the accessible travel sector, showcase partners and products catering for this market, and build relationships with recognised organisations who offer relevant training.
InteleTravel has joined Hidden Disabilities Sunflower and will be rolling out its training programme to agents. The organisation supports more than 50 conditions including autism, ADHD, epilepsy and Parkinson’s disease.
InteleTravel is working on offering British Sign Language courses, delivered by the British Deaf Association, to those wanting to improve their communication to the hard-of-hearing community.
The launch of IFTA concluded with a panel discussion of InteleTravel advisors, all of whom have accessible needs.
Travel advisor and amputee with ADHD Darrel Cresswell, from Cresswell’s World Travel, has two autistic children and explained his personal challenges when planning a family holiday.
He was joined by two colleagues with different hidden disabilities who aired their frustration when travelling, as their condition is not obvious and often not taken seriously.
Travel advisor Carol Mumby, of Mumby Travel, said the training had made an immediate impact and given her the confidence to identify needs.
She has secured two cruise bookings for customers with mobility issues within 24 hours of the training.
ITFA advisors attending the launch will receive a dedicated certificate and badge.
