Riviera Travel has rescheduled the naming ceremony for a new river ship until the autumn after a delivery hold up.
The new flagship, Riviera Radiance, is now due to launch a week late on June 9, following a delay in its arrival.
The official naming celebration originally scheduled for the spring, will now take place in November.
Trade partners who had registered for the original ceremony will be welcomed to the revised celebration, according to the company.
A small number of advance preview visits will be arranged “to ensure comprehensive product knowledge and continued trade support,” the operator said.
Passengers affected by the June date change will be offered a “compelling” alternative journey.
“While the company is naturally disappointed to cancel the original plans for its inaugural sailing, this decision reflects its deep commitment to delivering the best possible experience for customers,” a statement said.
Riviera chief executive Phil Hullah said: “We’re understandably sorry to share that our new ship will not arrive in time for the planned first sailing on 2nd June.
“We know how much our guests were looking forward to this special occasion, and we’re personally reaching out to offer a compelling alternative.
“The ship’s inaugural sailing will now take place on 9th June. While this delay is disappointing, it is being managed with the utmost care, in the Riviera way, to ensure the impact on our guests is kept to a minimum.
“We remain confident in the revised schedule and look forward to delivering an exceptional experience when we set sail.”
The 178-passenger Riviera Radiance, spanning 135 metres, has been designed in collaboration with Riviera Travel’s Swiss partners.
Features include grand suites measuring 32 square metres including separate living and sleeping areas and a private balcony.
More than 80% of all cabins and suites will include floor-to-ceiling French balconies.
