Blue Bay Travel celebrates best June trading day for four years

Blue Bay Travel has achieved its best-ever revenue and profit for a single day in June, driven by a Maldives flash sale.

On Tuesday, June 13, the tour operator recorded 47 bookings and a revenue total of £400,000.

This made it Blue Bay’s best June trading day for four years, the Stoke-based company said.

Blue Bay chief executive Alistair Rowland (pictured) said: “Warmer weather tends to yield slower performance for us. The recent spate of warmer-than-average temperatures seems to have galvanised our customers’ desire to travel. This, combined with a water-villa Maldives sale, was the perfect combination.”

Only two other days in June throughout the company’s history achieved more than 45 bookings, the operator said, with both occurring in 2019.

Aside from the Maldives sale, Tuesday’s figures were also helped by the long-haul specialist’s greater attention on shorter-haul locations, with Egypt among the strong performers.

Rowland added: “What makes Tuesday’s sales performance even more pleasing is the fact that it’s also the best June trading day on record for bookings via our own media channels, which is testament to the strength of our brand.”
