A new Wizz Air route is being introduced between Birmingham airport and Timisoara in western Romania.
The service will operate twice weekly on Thursdays and Sundays from May 21 with one-way fares starting at £22.99.
The new route strengthens the budget airline’s presence at Birmingham, where it now serves seven destinations, including new routes to Sibiu and Rome announced last year.
Timisoara was named European Capital of Culture in 2023.
A Wizz Air spokesperson said: “We’re excited to add this new route to our operations from Birmingham, marking our seventh route from the airport.
“Timisoara is one of Europe’s hidden gems, offering a mixture of history and culture, and we’re delighted to make it more accessible for our UK customers .”
Birmingham Airport chief executive Nick Barton said: “This is a brand new addition to our departures board and accompanies Wizz Air’s current direct routes from Birmingham to Rome, Bucharest, Craiova, Budapest, Sibiu and Suceava.
“Regarded as Romania’s ‘Little Vienna’, Timișoara is a renowned cultural hub, home to acclaimed museums, vibrant art galleries and unmissable historical sights, so we’re confident that this new service will prove popular with our customers.”
