Welsh agency Bordessa Holidays has hailed a “positive” start for its third branch, which opened in Tenby on Monday (April 27).
The agency – a member of the Travel Trust Association, part of The Travel Network Group – already has branches in Carmarthen and Llanelli.
Its newest branch is in a unit next to Sainsburys in Tenby’s Upper Park Road.
Mair Jones, who set up Bordessa Holidays with her partner Chris Bordessa 12 years ago, said Tenby was chosen because the agency already has customers in the area, as the town is a pick-up location for its coach trips.
The new shop’s manager is Mandy Evans, who has almost 20 years of travel experience. She has moved from the Carmarthen shop to Tenby, where she also lives.
Another agent has joined to replace Evans in Carmarthen, while another recruit is due to relocate to Tenby from England to join Evans in a few weeks’ time.
In the meantime, Jones will work with Evans in the new store.
Jones said the first few days had been “very positive with customers coming in and excited to see us”.
As well as the high street outlets, the business has a social media team and aftersales department who can help clients out of hours.
The new shop has been promoted online, on social media and in the local newspaper.
“We also had word-of-mouth and the first couple days have been great,” said Jones, noting the branch has already run out of most cruising brochures and has received many enquiries about touring holidays.
Once the new shop is settled, the business will move its Carmarthen agency to a larger property on the high street.
Then Jones and Bordessa will be able to start planning their own wedding, having got engaged on New Year’s Day on a Bordessa Holidays coach trip to Disneyland Paris.
The couple are planning a Disney-themed wedding for 2027 – one of many overseas weddings in which the agency specialises, along with stag and hen parties, honeymoons, coach trips and travel to destinations worldwide.
In July, Bordessa will hold its first charity event, a murder mystery evening in Carmarthen in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.
