CAA appoints regulatory expert as non-executive director

A former regulatory affairs chief at BT has been appointed as a non-executive director at the Civil Aviation Authority.

Anne Heal brings more than 20 years of experience in regulation, governance and strategy across a range of regulated sectors, according to the authority.

She currently holds a portfolio of non-executive and regulatory decision-making appointments, including as deputy chair of the Office of Rail and Road.

“The appointment supports the Civil Aviation Authority’s commitment to effective governance, consumer protection and public accountability across UK aviation and aerospace,” a statement said.

CAA chair Sir Stephen Hillier said: "Anne brings valuable experience and insight on regulation and governance matters to our board at an important time for the aerospace sector.

"We look forward to working with her, as we continue to deliver our mission to protect people and enable aerospace."

Aviation minister Keir Mather said: "Her experience from a career across transport, utilities, and not-for-profit sectors will be invaluable to the Civil Aviation Authority, as we continue to work in close collaboration to deliver an even safer and faster growing aviation industry."

Heal added: "I look forward to working with the board and colleagues across the Civil Aviation Authority to support its important work protecting consumers, upholding high standards of safety and helping to maintain confidence in UK aviation and aerospace."
