Gold Medal has expanded its product and partnerships team to support growth in demand for its European programme.
Helen Carter started a new position as Europe destination manager this month after having completed two years on a graduate programme across parent company dnata Travel Group UK’s B2B brands.
The new role has been introduced following “substantial” year on year growth with an increase of almost 50% in agents booking European packages.
Stephanie Clayton has expanded her remit in Gold Medal’s partnerships team to also include European partners, resulting in committed support and increased possibilities to grow relationships for the future.
Room nights into Europe have increased by more than 120% and the average booking value continues to climb at 15% higher than 12 months ago, according to the B2B specialist operator.
The offering covers more than 10,000 hotels and resorts, along with a range airlines available to book both online and via a call centre.
Managing director Simon Applebaum said: “Gold Medal are known to agents as being a leader in long-haul travel, however over the last 12 months we have been working hard to develop a more substantial and trusted European programme too, to open even more possibilities for our agents.
"Greece is currently our top performing destination in Europe, closely followed by Spain and Italy.
“With more product being made available and increased training across our teams, agents started to trust us with their short haul enquiries and the figures speak for themselves.
“With this increasing demand, we wanted to make sure our agents, and our suppliers, are supported across all touchpoints. The addition of Helen to our product team and the expansion of Steph’s European responsibilities within partnerships ensures continued dedicated resource.”
