Norwegian Cruise Line president David Herrera has predicted the proportion of UK passengers on the line’s ships is likely to grow.
During a webcast interview with Travel Weekly, Herrera was asked about the prospects for the UK market.
“I think it will probably grow,” he said, adding: “I welcome the idea of having more Brits on board – I think it would be great. Time will tell, but I love what we’re doing, I love the market and I hope we do see more Brits on Norwegian [Cruise Line] ships.”
He said Gary Anslow, NCL regional vice-president and head of UK and Ireland, and other Southampton-based staff were successfully engaging with the UK trade.
“They have done a fantastic job in reinforcing to our travel partners that they’re a critical part of our success. We appreciate them and we want to spend more time introducing their guests to Norwegian Cruise Line,” said Herrera.
He added: “We absolutely know the type of consumers we get from the UK, we understand them – they want to enjoy that fun in the sun and we want to make it easier for them to do so.
“I lived in London for six months and I know there’s nothing prettier than a spring day in London – unless you’re on a Norwegian Cruise Line ship any other day of the year in the Caribbean.”
