Travel companies invited to use free careers resource in print and online to attract the industry talent of the future
Travel Weekly has joined forces with some of the biggest names in the travel trade to offer a free careers resource to help showcase opportunities for young people considering joining the travel and tourism industry.
Now in its 12th year, the 2026 edition of Take Off in Travel is a 76-page prospectus-style publication that is sent as a printed guide to schools, colleges, universities and other educational establishments, as well as being available on a dedicated, free-to-access website at takeoffintravel.co.uk.
All of the guide’s content can be used by travel companies as part of their own recruitment drives, while the publication can also be downloaded and accessed online.
The 2026 edition has been produced in association with headline sponsor Hays Travel and long-term partner Abta, and was launched at the ITT Future You Forum at World Travel Market in London last week, with more than 100 students and travel lecturers from across the country in attendance.
Lucy Huxley, editor-in-chief of Travel Weekly Group, said: “We created Take Off in Travel more than a decade ago to really highlight the huge range of careers people can have in the travel industry. Today, it’s still a vital resource for companies and organisations focused on attracting the next generation of talent.
“We’re thrilled to play our part in creating this yearly showcase, a resource that’s available for free for anyone to use and share. We’re also very grateful to Hays Travel, Abta and all our partners for helping us produce this latest edition.”
As in previous years, the supplement is packed with information about different sectors in the industry and real-life case studies of what it’s like to work in travel, as well as careers tips and advice on how to get a foot into the industry.
Dame Irene Hays, chair of Hays Travel, said: “At Hays Travel, we’re passionate about helping young people start exciting and rewarding careers in travel. We love training, developing and supporting our people, whether they’re just starting out or joining us from a different industry later in life. Our goal is to help everyone build long, fulfilling careers in a fun, friendly and inclusive environment. We hope Take Off in Travel inspires plenty of readers to start their own journey in this incredible industry.”
Vicki Wolf, head of education and career development at Abta, said: “Abta is happy to be supporting Take Off in Travel for the 12th year. We have sponsored every edition since it was launched as we are committed to promoting the wide range of careers in the travel industry.
“Take Off in Travel is the only A-to-Z careers guide of its kind for the travel industry and is a brilliant resource for people thinking about starting a career in travel or changing to a different area within travel.
“The fact that it is in print and online makes it very easy to share and we encourage those in the industry to post it on their networks and parents to share the link with school and college careers advisors.”
As well as information about the industry and insights from those at every stage of their career journey, this year’s Take Off in Travel also includes helpful advice to equip readers with the know-how they need to kick-start their first step on the ladder. For those already looking at where they want to work, the Showcase section contains company profiles created in association with leading travel brands to highlight each company’s culture and opportunities for progression.
