All travellers flying with Etihad Airways to Abu Dhabi will be required to show a negative Covid-19 PCR test result from August 1.
The new rule covers all Etihad departures from around the world to and via Abu Dhabi.
Tests must be carried out within four days prior to arrival in the Gulf state.
A negative Covid-19 PCR test result certificate from an approved clinic must be shown for approval to board.
Children under the age of 12 and people with mild to severe disabilities are currently exempt from the PCR test requirement, accordi ng to the carrier.
However, all passengers arriving into Abu Dhabi as their end destination may be subject to further PCR screening at the airport.
A negative Covid-19 test result will also be required within 96 hours prior to leaving the UAE from Abu Dhabi to any country in the European Union and the UK
The airline said: ”To help facilitate this process, Etihad Airways is collaborating with Mediclinic Middle East to offer departing travellers the option of convenient PCR testing, for a fee, at their home, or at facilities in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Dubai prior to their travel.
“Etihad continues to follow UAE and international government, regulatory and health authority directives, and is playing its part in helping to limit the spread of Covid-19.”
