Abta LifeLine director Trudie Clements is to run her first London Marathon to raise vital funds for struggling travel industry colleagues.
She has set a fundraising goal of £3,000 and has appealed for industry support either through donations or cheering from the sidelines to help her get round the 26.2 mile route on April 27.
Donations can be made to her JustGiving page, which sends funds directly to the charity.
Alongside her marathon effort, Abta LifeLine is holding two fundraising events before the summer.
A golf day returns for a second year on June 12 at Crondon Park Golf Club in Essex, open to players of all levels.
A trek for good challenge on June 15-21 will take participants on a 45km hike through the Andes Mountains to the remote Incan city of Choquequirao to raise funds for Abta LifeLine and Planeterra.
Each trekker must fundraise at least £1,000 with proceeds supporting both charities.
Clements said: “While many charities have allocated places for the London Marathon, LifeLine doesn’t and so I was extremely lucky to secure mine through the ballot.
“The preparation so far has been tough, but I see first-hand the difference LifeLine’s support makes to people in our industry who have fallen on hard times, which is really helping me push through these last few weeks of training to make it to the starting line.
“I’m delighted to have reached half of my fundraising goal to date and would be so grateful to anyone who is able to make a donation to help support colleagues in our industry who are struggling.”
