Two leaders of the UK travel trade received the Outstanding Contribution to the Industry award at the 2025 Travel Weekly Agent Achievement Awards.
The Travel Network Group chief executive Gary Lewis and Idle Travel owner and director Tony Mann were honoured for their achievements at the event, held in central London in association with headline sponsor Celestyal.
The Outstanding Contribution to the Industry Awards were sponsored by Princess Cruises and presented by the line’s Suzanne Korff.
After collecting his award, Lewis said: “It’s slightly overwhelming and very inspiring to be recognised at any stage in your career because you don’t think about it – you just do everything day in, day out.
He added: “Obviously through the years, you see so many people receiving accolades at the AAAs, so to receive an accolade is amazing.”
Mann dedicated the award to his late wife Andrea as well as the rest of his family, including daughters Jodie and Kerri and grandson Tyler, and his agency staff past and present.
“I might be the face of Idle Travel but my wife supported me all the way and this is for her,” he said, in a tearful tribute.
He added: “I fell into travel 41 years ago thanks to the backing of my mother and father-in-law and my wife. This has come as an absolute shock and means so much but it just goes to show what can happen. We are a small family agency in Bradford and this is a great industry – you can dream high.”
Referring to his wife’s battles with mental health, Mann also stressed the importance of caring for colleagues and making sure staff were supported. “If you are struggling mentally get support,” he added.
