Finnair raises UK and Ireland capacity

More Finnair flights from the UK and Ireland to Helsinki wu=ill be available next winter.

The airline’s expanded schedule sees expanded capacity from Manchester, Edinburgh and Dublin.

A double daily frequency will run from Manchester from October next year, up from nine flights a week this winter.

The expansion from the northwest hub is in addition to 29 flights a week from Heathrow to the Finnish capital.  

Edinburgh gains two extra flights a week bringing the winter  2024-25 service un to six departures a week.

The carrier is also increasing flights from Dublin to from eight to 10 a week.

Services have been timed to allow for connections onto Finnair’s global network, including a twice-weekly link to Nagoya, Japan’s fourth largest city, being resumed from May 30 next year.

Chief commercial officer Ole Orvér said: “We are delighted to resume our connection to Nagoya, where we used to fly before the pandemic.

“We already fly to Tokyo Haneda and Narita as well as Osaka, and in the summer season 2024 we’ll have a total of 20 weekly frequencies to Japan.

“We will also have a very compelling leisure offering to popular holiday destinations for the winter season of 2024.”
