ITA Airways to start Rome flights from London City

ITA Airways is set to expand at London City with flights to Rome, becoming the first airline to operate the route since the pandemic.

The Italian flag carrier will start flying a twice-daily service to Rome–Fiumicino (FCO) in March 2024.

London City aviation director Anne Doyere said: “We’re delighted to strengthen our partnership with ITA Airways and bring back another key route into our network as we continue to recover and grow.”

The last airline to operate the route was British Airways CityFlyer, before the pandemic halted the service in 2020.

When ITA Airways’ operations begin, travellers will be able to take connecting flights to destinations including Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and Buenos Aires.

Doyere said: “Rome will open up a huge range of new travel options for those on connecting flights, so we look forward to welcoming many new passengers to London City.”

During the week, flights from London City will depart at 8.30am and 4.40pm (arriving at noon and 8.10pm respectively). Saturday departures will be at 11.35am with an arrival of 3.05pm, while Sunday departures will be at 4.40pm with an arrival of 8.10pm (the same times as the later of the two weekday flights).
