Leading Vietnamese travel brands are to host a UK trade event to mark the country reopening its borders following the pandemic.
Senior representatives from across the Vietnamese travel sector are flying into London for the April 7 gathering including Vietnam Tourism Advisory Board chairman and chief executive Tran Trong Kien and senior representatives from Vietnam Airlines.
The reopening party will take place The Law Society in Chancery Lane with travel prizes being offered.
Kien, also chief executive of travel services organisation Thien Minh Group, said: “The UK travel industry plays a key role in driving visitors to Vietnam and ahead of what we expect to be incredible 12 months of growth, we want to celebrate with our travel partners.
“This is an opportunity for us to say thank you for their continued support over the past two years, but also a time to celebrate and look forward and share what Vietnam has to offer for future travellers.
“In 2020 Vietnam was one of the fastest growing travel destinations in the world, and on announcement of the country’s borders reopening, we saw a 75% increase in travel searches to destination, via Google’s Destination Insights.
“We want our partners to know Vietnam is back and open for business.”
Vietnam Airlines chief executive Le Hong Ha added: “UK has been one of the most significant routes for Vietnam Airlines, playing a substantial role in promoting tourism, investment, trade and cultural ties between Vietnam and UK.
“Currently, we are offering flights from London to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh city, using wide-body Boeing 787 aircraft.
“As Vietnam has reopened its borders for international passengers and is offering attractive promotions, we expect a huge increase in numbers of UK passengers to Vietnam.”
