Wizz Air will start a new winter route from Gatwick to Lyon in France on January 10.
There will be flights four times a week – on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays – to France’s third-largest city.
Lyon is famous for its landmarks, museums, restaurants and floating bars. It also offers access to nearby ski resorts and hosts a winter festival of lights and traditional Christmas markets.
The Lyon announcement follows the recent launch of three new routes from Gatwick to Marrakesh and Agadir in Morocco and Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt.
Wizz Air now offers more than 25 routes from the London airport.
Marion Geoffroy, managing director of Wizz Air UK, said: “Lyon is known for its Unesco-listed Old Town, impressive architecture and thriving food scene – not to mention it is a short drive away from a selection of ski resorts in the French Alps.
“With the launch of 42 new routes in the UK over the past year alone, we continue to bring better connectivity, affordable fares, and even more choice to our UK customers.”
Fares from airline start at £21.99 one-way and the seasonal service will operate until March 25, 2023.
