Iberostar Hotels & Resorts will open a hotel in Mexico in November, followed in 2026 by its first property in Zanzibar.
News of the openings came as the Spanish-owned chain announced a 10% year-on-year increase in sales for the first three quarters of 2025, and an 8% improvement in average daily rate (ADR).
The new Mexican hotel will be the Iberostar Selection Riviera Cancún hotel (pictured), in the state of Quintana Roo, offering more than 440 rooms.
The five-star beachfront resort will be in the chain’s Selection segment and is its 12th hotel in the country.
The Zanzibar property will be a newly built, 360-room, five-star hotel on Muyuni Beach.
It is expected to be included in Iberostar’s Selection category when it opens in late 2026 – and will be the first Iberostar property operated in the East African region.
The company said the performance of hotels in EMEA and North Africa has been characterised by “stable” demand from traditional markets, such as Germany and Spain, a “notable” 20% increase in demand from the UK, and double-digit growth in central European source markets – especially Switzerland, Belgium and the Netherlands – and the US.
Phil McAveety, chief executive of Iberostar Hotels & Resorts, said: “These results reaffirm the sustained growth trajectory of recent years and demonstrate our strong global positioning.”
It has already added five hotels to its portfolio this year: JOIA Aruba by Iberostar (Aruba), Iberostar Waves Berkeley Shore (Miami), Iberostar Waves Miami Beach (Miami), Iberostar Selection La Habana (Cuba), and Iberostar Selection Es Trenc (Mallorca, Spain).
Furthermore, it has renovated the Iberostar Selection Fuerteventura Palace, in Fuerteventura, which reopened in September.
