A new airline training company has launched a cabin crew course with four fully-funded places up for grabs.
EmPower Flight was set up last month by a team of aviation professionals and former airline training captains. It aims to widen the recruitment pool for the sector and meet growing demand for the next generation of cabin crew and aviation professionals.
The new seven-day Cabin Crew Attestation (CCA) training course integrates sustainable practices throughout and aims to equip trainees with job progression support and employability skills. It is to be run by instructors with extensive airline and commercial operation experience.
It is the company’s first training course, with 16 places in total. The four funded places form part of a launch offer, but further funded places could be considered on future courses to attract more trainees into the aviation sector.
Chief executive Andrew Perkins said: “Our mission is simple - we want to inspire change and empower the next generation of aviation leaders to think differently, innovatively and more sustainably.
“Launching our new course with funded spaces is central to our values. We’re removing financial barriers for talented individuals who might otherwise be unable to access aviation careers, helping us widen participation and build a more diverse, representative cabin crew workforce.
“With a growing need for cabin crew and aviation professionals in the industry, we have an active role to fulfil in meeting this demand whilst ensuring our trainees are equipped with the skills they need to lead, and the knowledge to succeed now and in the future.”
Chief sustainability and growth officer Rachel Gardner-Poole, who last year received an OBE for services to aviation, said: “Our aim is to go beyond the basics of cabin crew training and really equip our trainees from the get-go to consider future technologies and industry developments.
“In parallel we want to ensure we are also tapping into a pool of talented individuals who may have never pursued a career as cabin crew due to financial burdens.
“On offer is a real opportunity to reap the many rewards of a professional career as cabin crew and learn more than the status quo.”
The company is inviting applications for funded and non-funded places on the course from people of all backgrounds with an interest in pursuing a career as cabin crew. Applicants must have the right to live and study in the UK. The deadline for applications for funded places is February 7.
