Cali Resort & Spa is the newest five-star addition to the glamorous coastline of Paphos, adding its own brand of beauty

Paphos is a place that’s synonymous with beauty. It’s said to be the birthplace of Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love, while its caramel-coloured beaches are among the most idyllic anywhere on the island. Now, after opening in summer 2024, the adult-only Cali Resort & Spa, a member of the Elegant Collection by Louis Hotels, is the latest reason why Paphos is so closely associated with such sun-soaked splendour. Its very name is inspired by the Greek word for beauty, ‘kallos’. And for clients looking for a serene Mediterranean escape, it certainly doesn’t disappoint…

Cypriot comfort

The luxury five-star Cali Resort & Spa is a hotel that’s in tune with its natural surroundings. Its soft colour palette of stone greys, whites and earthy tones are drawn from the limestone rocks and craggy cliffs of Cyprus’ wild coastline nearby. This natural environment slows the pulse of guests as soon as they arrive and kick back in one of 201 superior rooms and suites, all of which reflect the light, airy decadence the rest of the resort embodies. These include the Seaview Superior Rooms for those glittering Mediterranean panoramas, to the Deluxe and Executive Suites, which promise their own Jacuzzi.

Elsewhere, the main swimming pool is the heart of the resort and a dreamy base for clients to while away the hours. Even the comfy sun loungers that surround it would make it difficult enough to move, but for the sun terrace and bar serving snacks and drinks.

If client’s feet do start to itch, then they’re in luck. For Cali Resort & Spa is less than a ten-minute walk from the flaxen-hued curves of Coral Bay, often said to be one of the best beaches in Cyprus, and the sleepy local tavernas that front it.

If clients want to stretch their legs further, they can explore Paphos’ heritage through its ancient Tombs of the Kings archaeological site, the House of Dionysus and plenty more. If you have clients who prefer being more active, suggest the lush, forested peninsula of Akamas National Park, just an hour’s drive from the resort.

Mediterranean indulgence

Cali Resort & Spa knows how to look after its guests – from their mind and soul to their stomachs. It has two main restaurants which, much like the resort itself, both lean on the surrounding environment with their use of natural, fresh ingredients. All-day dining venue Aria treats clients to the finest Cypriot cuisine, as well as wider Mediterranean and some international dishes, while Fiki transports clients’ tastebuds to the Far East with its Japanese fusion food.

For lighter bites, the Calista Pool Bar tempts guests with its range of cocktails and snacks, and the Sonata Lounge’s terrace is the place to be during golden hour – with a cocktail in hand and a fiery sunset to soak up, this is the kind of Mediterranean glamour guests will have come for.

To really unwind at Cali Resort & Spa, however, suggest booking a treatment at the resort’s Kallos Spa. There’s that Greek word for beauty again, and for good reason. The spa is an opulent sanctuary of relaxation, complete with sauna, steam room, heated indoor pool and a dreamy range of massage treatments that complement Paphos’ Greek heritage (extra charges apply).

Once clients have emerged feeling rejuvenated, they’ll be convinced Paphos – and Cali Resort & Spa’s – close association with the word beauty certainly lives up to the hype.
