C&M Travel Recruitment managing director Barbara Kolosinska said: “Always the quietest month of the year, December 2023 didn’t buck the trend. But it was far from the slowest December we’ve seen in recent years, with encouraging numbers of new candidates and vacancies.”

December registered a 45% rise in the number of new travel job vacancies compared with the same month last year, but the figure was down 38% on November.

The last month of the year also recorded a fall in the number of candidates being placed in new travel jobs, with December’s figure dropping by 15% compared with November. The number fell by 38% compared with the same month last year.

Kolosinska said: “It’s looking like it’s going to be a very busy start to the new year with some great travel talent entering the market, and this increased competition means companies will have to offer their very best packages to secure the top candidates.”
