Carnival Cruise Line has unveiled details about Paradise Plaza and Calypso Lagoon, two of the five ‘portals’ at its new private island Celebration Key.
The island in Grand Bahama, scheduled to open in July 2025, will feature in more than 500 itineraries via 18 Carnival ships sailing from nine US homeports.
Paradise Plaza will welcome guests and provide wayfinding and destination information, while Calypso Lagoon will offer a range of attractions including a freshwater lagoon, beachside bar, sports court and two restaurants.

Carnival Cruise Line president Christine Duffy said: “These new details show the creative design that’s gone into the development of each portal, with Calypso Lagoon offering a wide variety of options to fill the day, while honouring the beauty of Grand Bahama and celebrating Bahamian culture.”
The three other portals will offer a family-friendly area, a private retreat and a retail space, with further details promised “in due course”. A second phase of development is also being planned, and it is set to include a waterpark.
Paradise Plaza will feature an “eye-catching promenade” and sun-shaped arch, flanked by a 10-storey-high ‘suncastle’.
Calypso Lagoon’s beachside bar will have about 50 swings for guests who want to dip their toes in the water while enjoying a drink.
A section of Calypso Lagoon and the adjacent beach will be adult-only, featuring a swim-up bar with DJ, as well as cabanas, daybeds and loungers.
Up to two Carnival ships will be able to dock at a cruise pier allowing guests direct access to the island.
