Jet2holidays has launched a flash sale across all package holidays booked through independent travel agents following news of eased restrictions.
The tour operator reported a “massive surge in traffic and bookings” immediately after the government announced it was scrapping pre-departure tests in resort and self-isolation on arrival from this Friday, January 7.
Chief executive Steve Heapy welcomed the announcement and said the company wanted to put independent agents “at the heart” of the anticipated sales bounce back “which is why we are launching this promotion”.
The operator has announced £50 off per person across all package holidays booked through an independent agent whether travelling this current winter, this summer, next winter or summer 2023. Bookings must be made by January 18 2021 to qualify for the discount.
Heapy said holidays were “very much back on for UK holidaymakers” with customers were already “jumping at the chance to book holidays they have been looking forward to” and stressed that agents were perfectly placed to fufil this demand.
He added: “We have put an enormous amount of effort into delivering our Partnership to Success strategy to working with independent travel agents over the past couple of years.
“That includes ‘Travel Made Simple’, our latest campaign designed to tap into the customer demand for knowledge and expertise when booking a holiday and the fact that independent travel agents are perfectly positioned to provide that.
“As demand unlocks and customers clamour for this expertise, now is the perfect time to accompany that with a fantastic promotion for independent travel agents to use.”
He backed the government’s decision to ease travel restrictions as the news that “customers and the industry alike have been desperate to hear”.
He said: “We entered 2022 with a real sense of positivity about the year ahead and today’s update from the UK government gets the year off to a fantastic start.
“We look forward to further positive updates from the Scottish Government and Northern Ireland Executive.
“It is abundantly clear to everyone that travel testing requirements have had no impact on the spread of the Omicron variant, so this should represent the end of a set of measures that are not only disproportionate but futile too.”
