James Rodriguez, former executive vice-president of sales and marketing at Oceania Cruises, has become president of Atlas Ocean Voyages.
Rodriguez started his role at the luxury expedition line on Monday (August 1) ahead of the launch of second vessel – World Traveller – in November.
He began his career at Crystal Cruises before joining Oceania Cruises in 2003 as “a key founding team member”.

New boss to take helm of Atlas Ocean Voyages
Atlas said Rodriguez (pictured) has “extensive experience” in “sales, marketing, operations, human resources and guest experience”.
The line announced last month that a new boss would take over from former president and chief executive Alberto Aliberti.
Mário Ferreira, chairman of Mystic Invest Holdings, parent company of Atlas Ocean Voyages, said: “James’ entrepreneurial experience in helping build and market successful brands will be a key advantage as we continue to introduce our new brand to the North American market.
“James has an unwavering passion for the cruise industry and a reputation for being a champion of travel advisors.
“We are confident that, under James’ leadership, Atlas Ocean Voyages will be the best small luxury expeditions cruise line in short order.”
Rodriguez said he was “deeply honoured” to be joining the Atlas team, calling the opportunity “extraordinary”.
“Only one year in service, Atlas is already an established cruise brand with elegantly designed expedition ships that sail to bucket-list destinations and an exceptional staff and crew who deliver excellent service.”
He added: “We are committed to strengthening and expanding our relationships with the trade community, as we highly value our travel partners and are grateful for their support in recommending Atlas.”
In addition to World Traveller, three more ships – World Seeker, World Adventurer and World Discoverer – are due to join the Atlas fleet by 2024.
