EasyJet is to offer flights to a wider range of Greek islands this summer thanks to a partnership with Crete-based airline Sky Express.
Through the airline’s ‘Worldwide by easyJet’ agreement, flight connections will now be offered via Athens, Thessaloniki, Corfu, Zakynthos, Preveza, Kefalonia, Rhodes, Larnaca, Chania, Heraklion and Thessaloniki to more than 20 new Greek destinations.
These are: Mytilene, Paros, Icaria, Astypalaia, Naxos, Vathi, Scio, Lemnos, Karpathos, Kythera, Milos, Alexandroupoli, Kastoria, Skiros, Kozani, Kasos Island, Sitia, Syros, Kalymnos and Laros Island.
EasyJet passengers will be able to book Worldwide by easyJet flight connections to Sky Express flights and forward easyJet flights via an online platform developed by technology partner Dohop.
Chief commercial officer Sophie Dekkers said: “We’re delighted to be working with Sky Express to open up access to even more new destinations this summer and explore all that Greece and its islands have to offer.”
Sky Express commercial director Yiannis Lidakis added: “This cooperation is of strategic importance to us because its main goal is to offer our passengers more options, but also to strengthen the potential of our country as a dynamic travel destination.”
EasyJet launched its global airline connections service in 2017, offering connections for easyJet flights through Gatwick to long-haul flights with WestJet and Norwegian.
It has since been expanded to offer connections through European airports including Venice Marco Polo, Amsterdam Schiphol, Paris Charles De Gaulle and Orly, and Edinburgh.
By 2020, more than half the airline’s flights were able to connect to airline partner services and other easyJet flights in a single booking through the airline’s digital booking portal.
Under the Worldwide by easyJet agreement, flights are not held for connecting passengers. There is a minimum connection time of up to two and a half hours but if passengers miss connecting flights then easyJet will transfer them to the next available flight.
Dohop commercial director Sarah Hanan said: “Since developing Worldwide by easyJet, we have been able to open new global destinations to airlines around the world. Our virtual interline technology enables partnerships between airlines and connects travellers with a seamless, quick and easy transfer through one of many connection hubs across Europe and beyond.”
