Not Just Travel member agency Out of this World reported a record-breaking January, with bookings up 63% year-on-year.
Sales totalled £575,000, with the average booking value of £9,713 up by 26% on the same month last year.
The company’s average booking value with its largest supplier, Gold Medal, was £23,886.
Ben Casey, founder of the Solihull-based firm, said: “Whereas others in the industry have said that January has been slow, we’re bucking the trend with these incredible bookings.
“Our largest booking was a family £88,000 trip to Bali, Singapore and the Seychelles.
“Over half of our business is still in Europe – average booking value £4,680 – but the Indian Ocean and the Caribbean are sweet spots for our business, with a much higher average booking value of £25,379.
“We attribute part of our January success to our recently launched ‘Inspiring Journeys’ mini travel paper which went out to every customer in the post and offered travel inspiration.
“We have created a loyal base of 75% repeat bookers. The remaining 25% are new customers who have all come through recommendations. This is reflected in our outstanding sales figures.”
He added: “At the Not Just Travel conference in January, Dame Irene Hays spoke on stage about the importance of selling long-haul and we’re proud to be a shining example of that business model.”
