New Silversea Cruises ship Silver Dawn departs on its maiden cruise today (Friday) after a formal naming ceremony in Lisbon.
The luxury line’s tenth vessel is to sail for Barcelona before spending the summer in the Mediterranean and then heading to the Caribbean and central America from November.
Silver Dawn is the third new ship to debut for the Royal Caribbean Group brand in nine months.
The launch also marks the debut of Otium, a new wellness scheme, as well as the next iteration of Silversea’s S.A.L.T. culinary programme.
The godmother of Silver Dawn was food and travel editor Nilou Motamed.
Royal Caribbean Group president and chief executive Jason Liberty said: “Celebrating the naming of Silver Dawn in Lisbon marked an incredibly proud moment for all involved.
“Silver Dawn is a jewel in the Silversea fleet and speaks to Royal Caribbean Group’s commitment to delivering the best vacation experiences in a responsible way.”
Silversea Cruises president and chief executive Roberto Martinoli added: “An evolution of our unique take on luxury, Silver Dawn is the third Silversea ship to be named in the last nine months.
“As well as S.A.L.T., our immersive culinary programme, Silver Dawn enriches guests’ travels with Otium, our indulgent new wellness programme, which is inspired by the ancient Roman lifestyle.”
UK managing director Peter Shanks is seeking to work with new travel agent partners.
