Tui is bolstering peak summer flying from regional airports by leasing in additional aircraft.
Four 189-seat Boeing 737-800s will supplement in-house Tui Airways capacity from Birmingham, East Midlands and Norwich airports.
Irish charter carrier Fly4 Airlines started running the flights from yesterday (Thursday).
The airline is due to operate more than 2,200 flights from the three airports, flying to 25 holiday destinations across Europe.
It is the second summer that Fly4 has supplemented Tui’s flying schedule.
The carrier has spent six months preparing for the summer by recruiting additional pilots and implemented an extensive training programme.
“Close collaboration with TUI has been key to aligning on scheduling and capacity planning, allowing both teams to optimise the summer flying programme for reliability and resilience,” the company said.
“In parallel, Fly4 has worked closely with its maintenance partners to ensure its Boeing 737-800 fleet is fully prepared for the demands of peak season flying.”
Chief executive and accountability manager Jochen Schnadt said: “Going into our second year of operation, we are delighted to be operating for our client Tui again with an even bigger programme this summer from three bases.
“The Fly4 team has been closely working with our colleagues at Tui over the last few months to be as prepared as we can be to operate a safe, resilient and reliable operation on behalf of Tui, providing our guests with a safe, pleasant and comfortable flight experience when travelling for their holidays this summer.”
