G Adventures is giving agents the opportunity to earn a place at its 2026 GX Summit in Cambodia, as well as this year’s Travel Weekly Agent Achievement Awards.
The tour operator is encouraging agents to submit entries to the ‘Mission Possible Agents of Change’ trade incentive, which will see a shortlist of 20 selected to take part in a series of “mini missions”.
The shortlist will then be narrowed down to three who will attend the Agent Achievement Awards on July 9, where there will be one final mission on the night where one of the three will be chosen to attend GX Cambodia between September 23 and 28.
Agents have until May 3 to enter via the dedicated page on Travel Weekly by submitting 100 words, or a 30-second video, explaining why they want to become an ‘Agent of Change’.
Speaking on a webcast with Travel Weekly editor-in-chief Lucy Huxley, Nick Hughes, UK director of growth, said the campaign represented “an opportunity for agents to get involved and make a true impact”.
Hughes said: “We are building this community of Agents of Change of those who not only want to send their customers on an amazing experience but do good at the same time.
“We want agents to experience it and see it for themselves first-hand to and it is a great experience to uplift themselves and make an impact at the same time.”
Hughes said the incentive was designed to be “fun but doing good at the same time”, adding: “It’s a little different to what we’ve done and what we’ve seen across the industry before, but I’m really hoping agents get on board and truly realise the impact that they can have.”
Stu Darnley, national sales manager, added that GX Cambodia would follow on from the success of previous summits in Peru, India and Jordan, and provide the winning agent with the chance to see “behind-the-scenes impact”, off-the-beaten track sites and community tourism-supported projects.
“People ask if GX is a fam trip or a conference. It is neither, but if you mash those two up, you would maybe get 70% of the way there,” he said. “It is not just a fam trip, but an immersive front-row experience designed to showcase the power of community tourism.”
Darnley added: “The entire ethos of GX is rather than just having an event in the UK or somewhere else, let’s bring the agents and our communities into the destinations where we travel and show the impact that they have, whilst having a great time and seeing the sites.”
GX Cambodia will take place over six days with all meals and international flights included, with a total of 15 UK agents due to attend, joined by 75 other agents from around the world.
Darnley said destinations such as Jordan had seen “an uplift” after their respective summits, which was part of the reason for choosing Cambodia given its challenges at the border with Thailand over the last year.
Hughes added: “We want to tell people of influence that these destinations are safe to go to and put it back on the map a little bit and help support the local economy by showing tourism can be a force for good.”
