United Airlines has extended a summer seasonal transatlantic service from Scotland by a month.
Capacity will rise by 22% on the route between Glasgow and Newark/New York.
Flights start on May 9 and will now run until October 24, a month longer than originally scheduled.
United will be the only US airline offering a non-stop service between Glasgow and the US.
The route marks United’s return to Glasgow, which the airline served previously up until pre-pandemic October 2019.
It will be the first scheduled transatlantic service by a US airline from Glasgow since then.
The airline will deploy single aisle Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft on the route, featuring 16 United Premium Plus, 54 Economy Plus and 96 economy seats.
The airline’s UK and Ireland sales director Karolien De Hertogh said: “We are pleased to see strong interest in our new upcoming service from Glasgow to New York/Newark and this significant expansion further underlines the importance of Scotland within United’s global route network.
“Our customers in Scotland will be able to benefit from even more time and travel options to visit New York City, as well as the possibility to connect seamlessly via our US hubs to over 140 onward destinations across the Americas.”
Chris Tibbett, airline director at Glasgow Airport owner AGS Airports, added: “We were absolutely thrilled when United Airlines announced its return to Glasgow Airport for summer 2026 and the increased frequency before the service even starts highlights the strong appetite for connectivity between the two countries.
“The return of United Airlines further strengthens Glasgow Airport’s transatlantic connectivity and is a boost for the region and the wider Scottish economy."
United will serve a total of 44 destinations across the Atlantic this summer, offering nearly 800 weekly transatlantic roundtrip flights, including new destinations in Croatia, Italy and Spain from Newark.
