The Travel Network Group chief executive Gary Lewis looks ahead to a packed agenda in Bucharest
With just a day to go until our conference begins in Bucharest, we are genuinely excited to be welcoming our members and business partners.
Bucharest is a city with real character – full of history, creativity and warmth – which makes it the perfect setting for this year’s theme: “Winning Hearts, Creating Journeys.”
In my view, the conference theme really reflects where we are as an industry right now.
We are facing a lot of change – from geopolitical pressures such as the US trade policies to new regulations such as the PTRs review, the EU Entry/Exit system, and the upcoming Etias requirements.
These changes bring complexity indeed, but also opportunity. And that’s exactly what we will be exploring during our conference in Bucharest.
The same goes for the rise of AI, increasing concerns around cybersecurity and, of course, sustainability.
These are real challenges, but they also open the door for innovation – and for travel businesses to position themselves as trusted, forward-thinking advisors.
On the commercial side, we are continuing to see strong demand across the board – whether it’s last-minute bookings, luxury escapes, cruise or adventure travel.
Consumer habits are evolving quickly and understanding those shifts will be key to helping our members stay one step ahead.
Outside of the business sessions, when we will not be working, we will be spending time with our members, business partners and guests.
Our team members have poured their energy and heart into every detail of this conference.
From the main stage to the breakout sessions and even the informal catch-ups over coffee, the event has been designed with our members in mind – to feel personal, relevant and full of opportunities to connect.
We don’t believe in putting on a show and standing back.
Our team will be there at every step – not just running the event, but sharing conversations, listening, supporting and being a genuine part of the experience.
Our conference programme is packed with sessions that balance practical insight with inspiration.
And alongside the learning and networking, we will take time to celebrate everything our members have achieved and look ahead with confidence.
As a summary, yes, the challenges are real.
But so is the strength of our community. The team and I can’t wait to welcome everyone to Bucharest this weekend – to reconnect, to share and to keep creating journeys that truly win hearts.
