Israeli health minister plans to relax more Covid-19 rules

The Israel Government Tourist office in London has welcomed news that the Israeli health minister has recommended easing restrictions introduced to curb the spread of the Omicron variant of Covid.

Nitzan Horowitz and senior ministry of health officials made the recommendations about Covid-19 rules to the Israeli government on Wednesday (February 16).

If approved, foreign children under the age of 12 who are accompanied by a fully vaccinated parent will be allowed the enter the country and isolate until a negative test is obtained.

Also, tests on flights to Israel will be removed and arrivals will only need to complete one single PCR test on arrival at Ben Gurion airport.

Some Covid-19 restrictions will remain in place, so unvaccinated foreigners over the age of 12 will not be permitted and face masks remain compulsory in all enclosed spaces until further notice.

Sharon Ehrlich Bershadsky, director of the Israel Government Tourist office in London, said: “We are extremely happy with this news on the expected relaxations in all Omicron restrictions.

“Travelling as a family has been hard to navigate over the past couple of years and we hope that soon the process will be even easier for tourists looking to come and enjoy the abundant experiences Israel has to offer, or for those looking to reunite with loved ones.”
